Best Time
One of the factors that affects your travel experience directly is the season. So, choosing the right season is crucial, as per your preference. Although the 9-day Mohare Danda Trek itinerary can be completed at any time of year, it’s best to choose a season that aligns with your expectations and interests.
The most ideal season for hiking in the Annapurna region is springtime. In spring, visitors have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the colorful blooms of rhododendron and other flora throughout the Mohare Trekking route. The temperature is also very pleasing and comfortable for a walk.
In the same way, autumn is considered the second-best season for trekking in any region of Nepal. The reason is that you get to experience the stable weather with clear blue skies, offering a pleasant temperature for trekking. As you walk past many villages, you will also have the chance to celebrate major festivities like Tihar and Dashain with local people living in the mountains.
Similarly, hiking in winter is also suitable in Mohare Danda, as you will ascend only up to 3300 meters above sea level. While the weather is cold, it’s still milder compared to the freezing conditions found above 4,000 meters. So, with enough packing and preparation, you can enjoy the trek this season in a peaceful setting and with fewer crowds.
On the other hand, the rainy or monsoon season is the least favorite season for travelers. Although this season brings lush greenery, it also increases the risk of floods, landslides, heavy rain, slippery paths, and leeches, making the travel experience very uncomfortable.
Elevation and distance
You will begin your Mohare Trekking Route from Galeshwor, which is situated at a height of 1170 meters. Then, you will pass through the lovely hamlets like Bans Kharka at 1526 meters, or 5007 feet, and Nangi at 2300 meters, or 7546 feet, to reach the highest destination of this adventure, Mohare Danda, at 3300 meters, or 10,827 feet.
While returning to Pokhara, you will trek through other villages like Tilkot at 2250 meters, or 7381 feet, and Tiplyang at 1550 meters, or 5085 feet, to end your hiking excursion in the Annapurna region. On the other hand, you’ll be traveling a total of roughly 585 kilometers by vehicle, covering the routes from Kathmandu to Pokhara, Pokhara to Galeshwor, Tiplyang to Pokhara (via Beni), and finally back to Kathmandu.
While trekking, the total approximate hike distance of this Mohare Danda Trek will be nearly 40 kilometers. On the first day of your hike, you will walk about 4.5 kilometers to reach Bans Kharka from Galeshwor. Likewise, you have to walk 10 kilometers to get to the highest destination of the trek, Mohare Danda, from Nangi.
Difficulty and altitude sickness
The Mohare Danda Trek for 9 days is considered a moderate-level difficulty trek, which is designed for both beginners and experienced hikers who want to experience the authentic Himalayan life of people in the Annapurna region. Trekkers have to walk for around five hours on average, which includes forested paths, terraced hillsides, and some steep uphill sections.
The highest point of the trek is just 3300 meters at Mohare Danda, unlike other treks that reach heights of 4000 to 5000 meters above sea level. So, the possibility of altitude sickness is very minimal and rare. Nonetheless, it is crucial to have some knowledge regarding symptoms like loss of appetite, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and trouble so that you can learn and listen to your body while trekking for early prevention.
Aside from that, if you have any of these symptoms, you should cease your walk immediately to let your body to adjust to the high altitude. Drinking water might also help prevent these effects. Before hiking, consider doing some small exercises at home to stay in shape and ensure a smooth getaway, allowing you to fully enjoy the 9-day Mohare Danda Trek 9 day itinerary.
