Add-Ons
Upgrade Your Accommodation in Kathmandu
Accommodation upgrades are not a part of the standard Kori Himal Trek package, but it is a popular request among trekkers. You can upgrade from the standard 3-star hotels to luxury 4-star and 5-star hotels that are sure to be an amazing experience. Our standard accommodation arrangements are comfortable and overall great, but sometimes you just need to have a little taste of luxury. Especially, after you have been on a remote trekking experience, spending nights in a camping tent.
How does our trip start?
The Kori Himal Trek starts with your arrival at the capital of Kathmandu. You will spend the night there and move to Pokhara the very next day. We will arrange a bus ride for your trip to Pokhara. After about 8 hours of driving, we will reach Pokhara and call it a day. The next day, we will have breakfast in Pokhara and take a jeep ride to Sikles, the starting point of the trek. But we will not be trekking on the same day. The next day, we will start the trekking days, with a trek to Hugu Goth.
Difficulty
The Kori Himal Trek is one of the easiest trekking destinations in all of Nepal. The trekking days span just 4 days, which is among the shortest treks in Nepal, and the trails are not that physically demanding overall. However, there are a couple of ascents that will test your endurance. Overall, this trek deserves a rating of 6 out of 10 on the difficulty scale.
Best seasons
Spring is one of the best seasons to experience the Kori Himal Trek. This season offers great scenes as the wild flowers cover the Kori Hill and the rhododendron flowers bloom vibrantly throughout the routes. Once we are off to the highlands, the spring season offers great mild temperatures with chilly nights. Another good option is to do this trek in autumn. During the autumn season, the trails are usually dry, the overall weather stays clear, and the visibility in the air is at its peak.
Altitude Sickness
Altitude sickness is something that starts after we cross 3500 meters above sea level. On Kori Himal Trek, we will barely cross that mark; our peak altitude is 3800 meters at Kori Danda, which is not a considerable threat. Altitude sickness at that elevation is not a major risk since the effects are very minimal, almost trivial, and non noticeable.
Accommodation, Food and Drink
Accommodation on the Kori Himal Trek will feature tea houses and campsites. All the accommodation arrangements we make will be on a twin-sharing basis. If you would like to have private sleeping arrangements, it can be managed at a price. Meanwhile, your food options include traditional Nepalese dishes and some Gurung dishes. You are unlikely to find many Western options throughout the trekking days. The trek package will provide 3 meals per day, but not drinks.
Transportation
The Kori Himal Trek itinerary that we have discussed above features driving from Kathmandu to Pokhara and back, and driving from Pokhara to Sikles and back. All of these transportation expenses are covered by the trek package.
Permit
You just need to have an Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and a Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card to do this trek legally. The Kori Himal Trek package will cover the expenses related to the permits.
Trip preparation and fitness
Basically, you just have to do cardio exercises and stamina-building exercises to make sure that you are fit enough to meet the physical demands of the trek. There are no special preparation tips and tricks; it’s pretty plain and simple.
Cost & Budget
The cost of our Kori Himal Trek is USD _____ per head. At this price, the trek package will cover all your transportation needs, accommodation expenses, 3 meals per day (except in city areas), all permit fees, local taxes, and more.
Gadgets charging & Internet
Yes, you will get to charge your devices throughout the Kori Himal Trek, but occasional power outages might leave you in the dark sometimes. In addition to that, internet services are also relatively good in Sikles, compared to other trekking regions of Nepal.
Your Extra expenses
Things like international flight expenses, extra food, additional night stays, lunch and dinner in Kathmandu and Pokhara, personal trekking equipment, wages for the porters if you want to take one, tips for the crew members, and more are your extra expenses.
Things to Remember Before Trekking The Kori Himal Trek
- Layered clothing is a must to keep yourself safe from the cold at high altitude. Some light clothings are also required for the lower region.
- Pack sunglasses, trekking hats, and trekking poles, since they will be very handy during the trekking days.
- Dressing modestly is the only way to dress in the barely accessible villages of Annapurna.
- You are free to take pictures of the scenes and houses, but do not take pictures of the locals without their permission.
- Follow the “leave no trace” principle and properly dispose of your waste.
